Hi there! I’m Lauryn. A photographer, storyteller, and mama to two wonderful boys, August and Archer. My camera is practically an extra limb at this point, forever poised to snatch up the fleeting little sparkles that make life feel beautifully one of a kind. I’m a Texas girl at heart, raised under skies so wide they practically whispered secrets. After more than a decade on Whidbey Island, this windswept wonderland has fully claimed us. With its breathtaking landscapes and neighborly magic, it’s become the backdrop to our days and the heartbeat of my work. My husband serves in the military, and together we’ve woven a life here stitched with love, curiosity, and appreciation for life’s simple enchantments: sunrises stretching soft over the Sound, quiet whale sightings from the shore, and the joy of watching our boys grow wild and happy in nature’s embrace. When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll likely find me chasing whale sightings from the shoreline…one of my favorite reasons to be on this island. Or tide pooling with my two boys, hunting for crabs and whatever treasure the tide left behind. Somewhere in there, we’re also singing and dancing to Taylor Swift, because I’ve got Swifties to raise and I take that job seriously. Most days though, I am playing chauffeur…shuttling my boys to and from their activities and whatever play date is next on the schedule. And okay, who am I kidding. I never really put my camera down. If I’m not capturing your family’s story, I’m capturing my own. Because at the end of the day, it’s still my favorite way to hold onto the golden, slow moments.
Photography, to me, is more than a passion…it’s just who I am. Whether I am chasing the light for a family who trusted me with their story, or sneaking a candid shot of my own boys mid giggle fit, I’m always looking for that one real, unposed moment. It’s a way of honoring the stories that shape us. A wedding day, a cherished milestone, or the gentle loveliness of an ordinary afternoon, I’m here to help you preserve it with intention, warmth, and a sprinkle of magic. chasing real over perfection
I believe every photograph is a tiny Time Machine. A whole day, the sunlight, the giggles, the way someone’s hand found yours without even thinking…folded up and tucked away for the exact moment, years from now, when you need to travel back. And sometimes, though neither of us could ever know it in the moment, that photo becomes something even more sacred…the last one. The final glimpse of a smile, a hug, a hand held tight. I carry that possibility with me into every single session, tucked quietly behind my camera. It is why I never want to rush, why I chase the real over the perfect, and why I treat every click of the shutter like it matters.
what to expect
If posing for photos makes you break out in a nervous sweat, take a breath… you’re in good hands. You will never be left standing there wondering what to do with your hands or forcing a smile at nothing. I come with prompts, gentle direction, and enough guidance that you always know exactly what to do next. No guessing, no awkward silences, no “just act natural” and then radio silence while you panic internally.
Before we ever even meet, I am already thinking about you. I scout locations with your session in mind, watching how the light moves through the trees and the fields, where the shadows fall on the driftwood at the beach, so we are set up for the best light before you even arrive. I also spend time with the questionnaire you fill out beforehand, learning about who you are as a couple or a family… your dynamics, your quirks, the little things that make you you. That way I am not guessing on session day. I am guiding with intention. And if you ever want to talk through the details beyond the questionnaire, I am always happy to hop on a call or FaceTime. No detail is every too small.

Fun fact: before I was photographing families on the beach, I was chasing something a lot bigger. Whales. Nature photography has always been a love of mine. There is something about waiting, watching, and catching that split second moment of a whale surfacing that taught me everything I know about patience and timing. The same skills i use to catch your family’s real, unposed moments.
